Is This Real? | Maldives

Writing this post from the Maldives.. I just can’t stop feeling.. CONTENT! The breeze moving my hair and touching my face, the sound of the waves from all around and a cup of coffee right next to my laptop. This is real happiness.

Maldivians..

Maldivian ancestral roots can be traced back to Sinhala’s of Sri Lanka, Marathi’s and Guajarati’s of India, Arabs, Malays and Northern African dispositions. Accordingly, Maldivians emerged from a mixed race, which has enriched the culture and history of the country.

It makes a lot of sense when you read this, then see Maldivians! Even the cuisines are affected by all of the above – super interesting and amazing mixture!

Traditionally whenever guests visit a local island, the islanders will welcome them by serving a fresh coconut drink. This tradition has continued to this day and do not be surprised if your resort offers a beautifully decorated coconut drink when you reach your destination!

For some reason, as much as I was excited to read about this tradition.. All the hotels did NOT offer us a coconut drink! haha except for the Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru.

When to Visit Maldives?

 Low Season (May–Nov)

Storms and rain more likely, but weather warm and resorts at their cheapest. If you’re price conscious and would like to see Maldives anyway, maybe this is a good time for you to visit. Prices rise in August for European summer holidays. Marine life is more varied on the western side of atolls at this time.

 Shoulder (Mar–Apr)

Great weather continues until the end of April, when temperatures are at their hottest. The surf season begins in March and continues until October. Prices jump during April.

 High Season (Dec–Feb)

The Maldives enjoys its best weather. Expect little rain, low humidity and blue skies. New Year involve huge price hikes and often minimum stays of 5 days or more. My trip, was in Mid to end of February and prices were very high but the weather was absolutely beautiful.

During this sponsored trip, I was recommended to experience four different island resorts to get a feel between the different resorts in the Maldives, their offerings, services, transport methods and to whom each villa should be recommended.

Obviously, and since i’m a huge fan of hotel/resort hoping, I welcomed the idea and did it!

The resorts I visited below are ordered as per my most liked until least liked; NOTE please that my least liked is still amazing.. All of them were amazing but between those “all” I had favorites obviously based on the service and that has nothing to do with my sponsors.

  • Anantara Kihavah
  • Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru
  • Finolhu
  • Amilla Fushi

I would recommend all the above mentioned resorts for all couples, families, and groups of friends. If you like to see more, check my hashtags on instagram #hello965maldives to see more about the above mentioned resorts.
