First off and before writing about the place, how to get there and so.. This year, as well as the past year when I went skiing in Chamonix, France – the month December in both visits to both countries had very little snow almost none!
For that, IF you’re going skiing or snowboarding and hoping for snow, the best time to do that is typically end-January to early March! So I would recommend you to check the snow forecast before you do any bookings.
What I do usually, is book 6 months in advance at least for such vacations as all hotels and ski resorts especially the door-ski ones in Europe, get sold out VERY early in the year.
How to get there?
Prior to my bookings I’ve researched multiple landing spots and cities, and I ended up choosing to arrive to Venice Airport. The drive from Venice Airport to Mezzano Area in the North of Italy (Dolomites Mountains) took around 2 hours.
I’ve used the website kiwitaxi.com to book my transportation from the airport to the hotel. We were a group of 6, with 6 medium sized bags.
Keep in mind especially in Europe, usually luggage need to be small-medium sized as typically theres no enough space in the car. Should you need a bigger car, make sure you place a special request for that.
Our primary concern was distance. We preferred Ski to Slope resorts, but this time we weren’t able to find out. Anyway, our hotel was very kind to put it in touch with Scuola Sci San Martino which was around 20 mins by car to get there, meet our instructors and start the fun! (email@example.com )
We divided ourselves to three groups.
Group 1, 3 people all of them were skiing, beginners
Group 2, 1 person skier as well, but wanted full attention to be able to advance in skiing
Group 3, 1 person and that was myself, Snowboarding as a beginner. i needed also someone to focus on me. My whole point of this, is to know whether i’m into skiing, or snowboarding. It was a lotta fun, but with a lotta struggle as well.
