Shangri-La hotels story began in 1971 with their first deluxe hotel in Singapore. The name Shangri-La encapsulates serenity and service for which their hotels and resorts are renowned worldwide. Shangri-La own/or manage over 95 hotels and resorts throughout Asia Pacific, North America, the Middle East and Europe.
Some new hotels are under development in mainland China, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka.
Knowing about Manila’s crazy traffic was a bit worrying for me. However, staying at the Shangri La had made life so much easier, the area where the hotel is located has everything! shopping & restaurants, as well as necessity stores such as hair dressers and grocery shops.
Set in Taguig in the Luzon Region, 8 km from Manila, Shangri-La at the Fort, Manila boasts an outdoor pool and spa centre. The hotel offers views of the city (do not miss the view from a higher floor in the Shangri La!
Luxuriously furnished, all rooms at the hotel offer views of the city and are fitted with a flat-screen cable TV, air conditioning and a safety deposit box. Every room is equipped with a private bathroom with shower or bath facilities, slippers and free toiletries.
My room was at the 38th floor, it was a Club Room which gave me access to the 40th floor, a private floor that has a separate section for check-in, beautifully designed meeting rooms, business center and a breakfast/snacks area dedicated for club rooms. I loved loved this!
There are several dining options to cater to different palettes, from steakhouse Raging Bull Chophouse & Bar to Canton Road which serves Cantonese and Huaiyang cuisine and even Limitless, where guests can enjoy artisanal cocktails.
Finally, I will add a section that talks about service. I usually always say, what makes me go back to a hotel, and what makes me spend over and over again on a hotel is definitely the service.
I was warmly welcomed by the staff starting the transportation lounge at the airport. The staff at the hotel door, and reception whom were so kind to escort me directly to my room, and finalize my check-in process in room.
I arrived to Shangri-La with a hiccup, a luggage that never made it. The staff, the concierge, the PR director and everyone else were extremely helpful with trying to comfort me, following up with the airlines and the airport staff; i’ve never felt so much taken care of as much as I felt in this hotel. The service in here is just spectacular!
At 12 midnight, I expressed how tired I was from all the drama that happened at the airport, Mrs Princess from the Shangri-La offered me an in-room massage! Wow. An excellent massage, in room, at 12 midnight that ended around 1:30 AM .. I slept like a baby and all the worries for my luggage were put to sleep.
Shangri-La At the Fort, I salute you for this amazing service. I definitely recommend this hotel for whoever is thinking about going to Manila for leisure and for business.
I am happy to recommend this hotel, due to all many factors and aspects I’ve witness during my short stay!
PS. I’ve used a SMART sim card that I got from the airport on the arrivals hall, and the network worked great for me. I stayed for 10 days in the Philippines, and had 5 GBs (Which I think was the maximum available package).
