Apple iPhone Security Questions
At the crack of dawn and after a good episode of the big bang theory I picked up my iPhone to browse new apps. I had planned on posting about a very useful and funky application but was stopped in my tracks when downloading the app.
It seems like Apple has introduced forced (and random) security questions for all Apple ID accounts.
This isn’t all too unfamiliar. In 2009 NBK introduced the same feature for all accounts banking online. Except the bank allowed you to select which questions from the entire pool of questions and had a security image as well.
I remember quite a few blogs postings about the WOL Security Key by NBK and if the post did not directly criticize them, the comments definitely sounded distress around the questions …
I get why a bank would want to add more security features, but why after all this time does Apple want to introduce these additions? Which made me think … I wonder what the rate of credit card and identity fraud happens through the various online Apple channels (iTunes, App Store, etc.)
Considering what happened to Sony’s PlayStation Network and Valve’s Steam with account information and credit card details, perhaps this is a good move from Apple.
In any case, the questions were answered, the App was downloaded, and all went well. The funny thing is, I tried downloading a second application to see if the questions would be used … they weren’t #faceplam so I’m not entirely sure how they are useful …
Path Raises $30M+ Boom!
In December, @Rotsu posted about an iPhone application that is not uncommon to most of us Path – The Next Boom in Social Media.
A couple of day ago, the social application that re-envisioned people’s interactions with the world around them raised over 30M US dollars from some people that you might be familiar with:
- Greylock Partners, David Sze
- Redpoint Ventures, Satish Dharmaraj
- Jerry Murdock
- Sir Richard Branson
- Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Chi-Hua Chien
- Index Ventures, Mike Volpi
- Mark Pincus
- Yuri Milner
- Allen & Company

… just as Facebook pulls its Instagram stunt … interesting …
On a personal note, I removed Path from my iPhone a couple of months ago for many reasons including sucking up too my battery life and sucking up too much of my life #fml
TweetAn iPhone, Crayons, and a Hairdryer
Starting at The End
A couple of weeks ago I called a friend frantically asking if she had a hairdryer. In hindsight, asking a lady if she has a hairdryer is firstly fishy and secondly stupid – of course she did. When she asked “Why!?” I responded with … “because I have crayons!” … spiralling that conversation into a very deep philosophical silence ending in a loud unspoken #dafuq.
The story unfolded and what became of that random exchange is in the picture above.
So lets add some sense to all this madness.
SnapGuide is quickly becoming a favourite on my iPhone home screen. It’s a brilliant cross between VideoJug.com, WikiHow.com, and well I guess instagram.
“SnapGuide is a free iOS app and web service for passionate, creative people and DIY enthusiasts. Share and discover beautiful, step-by-step how to guides.”
Some of our friends are already using SnapGuide including @Basma_13cups of 13cups.com and @rotsu ~
The design is sleek, simple, and search oriented. More importantly, the content is fun and the varieties are endless. I tapped into one of the guides and the child gremlin in me wanted to come out and play. There it was … “How to make melted crayons with a hairdryer” … yes … o.o epic yes …
The car ignition was already on by the time I got to the last step of the guide. Drove to jam3iyat mishref
……….
This blog intermission is a public message informing you that our jam3iya is better than yours

and picked up some stationary then picked up some stuff around Dasman and called the friend asking “Do you have a hairdryer!?” … starting to make sense?
Crayons and a Hairdryer
The steps for doing this are charmingly simple.
The pictures show the instructions in order and explained in 5 points below:
- You will need Crayola crayons (or similar oil based colours), glue, a hairdryer, a canvas, and somewhere you can make a mess in.
- Glue your Crayola crayons onto the canvas
- Optionally, you can put a stencil in like the word “Hope” or the Umbrella man in our pictures
- Blow dry the crayons. Be patient – it will seem like nothing is happening for a while
- Remove the stencil and feel awesome … very awesome
It’s a messy process so be sure to cover yourself, your walls, your floors and anything else you can cover. Ended up having to take some clothes to the big boys at the dry cleaners who laughed at the wreck of a laundry pile.
If you are really good and patient (unlike us) you can come up with beautiful results like the ones shown on Snapguide. If you want details on how to create the black stencil and how to make the crayons melt around the stencil, download the app!
~ also just in case I get told off again, this was a team effort thanks DM! (where my #qooqie at!?)
iPhone Game: Very Hungry Cat
Meow!
A new addiction for those who enjoy their iPhone games!!! A friend of mine was playing this game over the weekend. I then immediately downloaded it and I’m hooked!

TweetNBK Mobile Banking Update
NBK updates its mobile banking application for full iOS 5 compatibility.
[UPDATE] Seems like some people had issues with the last version. We updated to 10.1.10 and it’s working great!
TweetPrincess Punt
What do you get when you cross Angry Birds, Ghost and Goblins, Princess Peach from Super Mario, and all the elements of you favourite Tactics game?
You get an awesome game where the Hero is kicked by a machiavellian Princess in pink to fight funky looking enemies using upgradeable weaponry, skills, and classes. It’s a whole new genre of gaming; an action puzzle rpg if you will. The entire idea of the game is simple: you kill monsters.
At first I thought this was just another copycat game but it really holds together. Brilliant cross of 2D and CG 3D graphics, quirky characters, and a little bit on the weird side (Acorn monsters … who would have thought?)
Here’s a little trailer of the game on iPhone and Android:
Even after watching the video you should still give the game a try – it free! Now on iPhone and Android.
Thanks @Justice_TG!
