Last of My Wisdoms
Last week has been a build up of overconfidence that somehow ended up spiraling down into a full blow freak-out fest over the extraction of the last of my wisdom teeth.
The first three were easy extractions back in 2008. I remember the surgery went well, there was virtually no pain for the first 4 hours, no swelling, nothing. Until I went home … and then there was this:

… for about 4 hours …
I had been waiting for the last tooth to make an appearance since 2008 when I was told that it would have to be removed – eventually. Today, was eventually.
What is special about this last one is that it is an impacted. There are many explanations of what an impacted tooth is online, how it forms, it’s variations and so on and so forth. This is what an X-Ray of an impacted wisdom tooth looks like (look at the left)
The way I would explain it to an average qooqie monster is that there is a tooth doing this to the rest of your teeth:
So I started doing research about how the tooth would be extracted. I wanted to calm myself down about the whole procedure. Big mistake.
First, this is how the animation looks like:

Cute right? It’s nice and clean. So I thought, awww, lets go check out some videos on YouTube of the procedure … double big mistake. I won’t embed the video here, because it’s super graphic … check out the wisdom tooth removal video at your own risk.
At that point I was in a full freak out mindset.
I went to Al-Seef Hospital and Dr. Adel Al-Asfoor was my surgeon. I didn’t take a picture of the operating room but it was quite nice: sea view and all. During the procedure, he would walk you through what was going to happen so it was reassuring.
Felt practically nothing – all went well, 30 minutes later I expressed my gratitude to the Doc and his Help by saying “Thath thou”.
There is significant swelling – look at the before and after picture below:
After asking to see the remains of my tooth, I got my prescription and ran down to the pharmacy and asked for some drugs – My best friends for the next couple of days :]~
… and 4 hours have already passed and I still feel nothing. The pain will come. It is a matter of when, not if. In a week’s time, I will go back to remove the sutures and be wisdom free! #doh!
… now I’m looking for recipes of food I can eat while healing …

Thousand Calorie Club #hi3
Disclaimers first: I’m not a health expert, I’m actually rather unhealthy. The reason I exercise is to eat and justify the stuff I eat (qooqies) … so please don’t take this post as a testimonial for the madness behind this method of exercise.
Since I joined instagram in June 2011, I started posting pictures of performance at cardio. This is more of a showcase to keep myself motivated – praise breeds performance. The more likes you get, the more you push the bar. I recently, used Instaport recommended by @rotsu in his post on Hello965.com. It was pretty cool to collect all the #hi3 photos taken for the #thousandCalorieClub tag.
So what’s this all about?
The Thousand Calorie Club is a hypothetical imaginary club that you can join by meeting one easy condition: In a cardio exercise of your choice, burn 1000 calories or more in an hour or less, and take a picture – tag it #thousandCalorieClub on your social site of choice. Boom! You’re in.
Some of the members at the #thousandCalorieClub (there are a lot more, I’m doing this from memory >.<):
- @rotsu
- @d_rezaqa
- @flattland
- @sara_sea
- @zalresheed
Here are the stats and pictures I got off of Instagram:
Machine: LifeFitness Elliptical
Settings: 80 RPM (Average), 60 minutes, Interval Program, Level 10.
Top Score: 1249 Calories
I plan on writing a post on Progress and will refer back to this blog ^^ stay tuned!
See you at the #thousandCalorieClub ~ bring your own qooqies …
Bill Gates donated over 36 Billion
As of today. Bill Gates had donated over $36,854,000,000 in his lifetime. What’s really impressive about him, if you follow his work, is that he managed to get the top 10 drug companies to agree to share research on tropical diseases. He’s using his problem solving abilities and his influence to make sure that his money has a real impact. For as much as you may hate Microsoft (in case you do) I really think Gates should have won a Noble prize by now.

Gimme Some SKINN Man
“In an age where men are more concerned about their health and well-being, they no longer need to be overshadowed by women when it comes to skin care. Modern men require time-effective, multifunctional skin care products – and SKINN’s range can certainly provide that.”
SKINN has launched a new product range for the Middle East to meet the rising demand for male cosmetics – fact: UAE men consume eight times more than American men to stay ahead of Old Father Time
“SKINN’s invigorating cosmetics range is specifically designed to enhance the male skin type, which research shows, suffers from more redness and soreness than that of females due to the consequences of razor shaving, Built upon dermatological and medical principles, SKINN was developed after years of medical research by Dr. Nina Wines and biochemist Annabel Merz. Since meeting in 1997 the dedicated Australian duo tested a wide range of ingredients before eventually achieving an effective and rejuvenating skin care product.
“SKINN differentiates itself from conventional products by both its unique dedication to healthy male skin, and its use of only the highest quality ingredients”
