Quote of the moment
” Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious, and however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do, and succeed at. It matters that you don’t just give up.” – Stephen Hawking
Stephen Hawking was diagnosed with a motor neurone disease known as Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The news of this diagnoses came when he was 21. At that time he was known to be a smart yet extremely lazy student. It was then that he changed his life from being a lazy student to be the most inspiring and the most brilliant man alive. Doctors said he would not survive more than two or three years and he gradually lost the use of his arms, legs, and voice to be almost completely paralyzed.
Last week he celebrated his 70th birthday and delivered a speech which is where the above quote came from, surviving his disease for nearly 50 years and becoming the icon he is today. This isn’t from a writer or some politician with inspiring words. He is, in my opinion, the most credible person to say such words. Don’t give up on the things you truly believe in.
I highly recommend that you read about his life, there are many books and documentaries about his life that we can learn so much from.
