St Lucia of the Caribbean

St Lucia was different!

We found St Lucia sooo different than the other islands we visited! It has a mixture of Asia & Africa which was very nice to our trip since it was sort of like a “scenery change” or a break from the consistent stunning flat beach view (like, stunning). But yes, we enjoyed that scenery break.

To my surprise as I was prepared for immigration to ask for visa, St Lucia doesn’t need visa for Kuwaiti Nationals! 👌🏼

In St Lucia there are two airports: check which one is closer to your resort to finalize your booking and your transfer.

the main Intl. airport is in the south of the island, airport code: UVF. It is where American Airlines, Delta Airlines, US Airways, Air Canada, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic fly in to. There is an airport in the north, code: SLU, which is the smaller airport, takes the regional airline, LIAT and also, American Eagle.

The French were the island’s first European settlers. is a sovereign island country in the eastern Caribbean Sea on the boundary with the Atlantic Ocean. Part of the Lesser Antilles, it is located north/northeast of the island of Saint Vincent, northwest of Barbados and south of Martinique. It covers a land area of 617 km2 (238.23 sq mi) and reported a population of 165,595 in the 2010 census. Its capital is Castries. Castries  is around 50 minutes by car from where I stayed (Anse La Raye).

Total nights spent were 3 nights, (again, could’ve stayed more)! I’ve enjoyed snorkeling, exploring the island by boat and by land! Many cute fisherman villages worth seeing & chocolate making is very big here! 😍

Saint Lucia was named after Saint Lucy of Syracuse by the French, who were the island’s first European settlers. It is the only country in the world named after a woman. Legend states French sailors were shipwrecked here on 13 December, thus naming the island in honor of Sainte Lucie.

The local climate is tropical, with a dry season from 1 December to 31 May, and a wet season from 1 June to 30 November.

Average daytime temperatures are around 29 °C (84.2 °F), and average nighttime temperatures are around 24 °C (75.2 °F). Since it is fairly close to the equator, the temperature does not fluctuate much between winter and summer. Average annual rainfall ranges from 1,300 mm (51.2 in) on the coast to 3,810 mm (150 in) in the mountain rainforests.
